Watercolor Class with Rita Derjue

Rita has many years of experience teaching watercolor painting around the world. She graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design and received her masters from Cornell University. Rita looks for excitement in the use of color, while painting contemporary landscape and indigenous architecture. Her style is loose, lyrical and vibrant.

Oil Painting Class with Jan Fordyce

Jan paints expressionist landscapes using rich color and texture. Her work is shown in galleries and collected throughout the West and in New York City. She has taught in the arts for the last 25 years, the past 8 years as an adjunct professor at Arapahoe Community College in painting, drawing and design. Her love and passion for painting is equaled by her enthusiasm in teaching others how to paint and getting them excited about the arts. Jan is continuously inspired by the endless ways to express herself within the process of painting and creating art.

Mixed Media Class with Mary Mackey

Mary has been a painter and photographer since the early 1980s. She has shown her work all over the world and taught many workshops. Mary incorporates a variety of materials in her work, "showing that mixing it up a bit can be quite fun". Mary's philosophy is that "breaking all the rules is a good thing and letting go and letting your inhibitions out is truly what art is all about". Students will be introduced to line, composition, and color. They will work with oil paint on Mylar, which will then be dry mounted onto white paper.

Pastel Class with Judith Scott

Both for the beginner and the experienced, this class will include a demonstration by Judith Scott, who has worked in pastels for forty years and is a long time member of the New York Pastel Society of American. Her approach is direct, full of color, and she encourages the student's individual style. Good drawing skills are not a prerequisite. Gentle but insightful critiques are one of her specialties. With an MFA in painting and 25 years of teaching college, this artist will give you good tips and good feedback.

Payment holds your reservation. In the case of inclement weather, classes will be held the following day, at the same time. Workshops take place outside in the sculpture garden. Refunds will be given only if classes are canceled by Fryberger Art Consulting.
